Dr Syeda Saiyidain gets 'Sabir Dutt Award'

Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai conferred the Haryana Urdu Akademi's coveted 'Sabir Dutt Award' for social uplift of women on Dr Syeda Saiyidain at the Raj Bhavan today.

Dr Syeda Saiyidain is at present Member, Planning Commission of India. She is the great granddaughter of celebrated Urdu poet Khwaja Altaf Hussain Hali Panipati.

She has done a lot of research work on Hali Panipati.

Reading out the citation of the award, Haryana Urdu Akademi Secretary Kashmiri Lal Zakir said the Akademi has conferred the award for her ''consistent and committed work for the social uplift of women.'' Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana and senior Vice-Chairman of the Haryana Urdu Akademi admired the efforts made by Dr Syeda Saiyidain for the empowerment of women.
