Cell-phones with SIMs recovered from Sahabuddin
Siwan, May 16: Police have recovered two mobile phones and a SIM card from the possession of incarcerated RJD MP Mohammad Sahabuddin following a sudden raid on his cell in the district jail.
Acting on a tip-off, District Magistrate Santosh Mall and Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar along with a posse of policemen raided Sahabuddin's cell here last night and recovered two cellphones and a SIM from him.
Later, police conducted raids on the cells of Sahabuddin's accomplices and found two more mobile phones, three chargers, one ear phone and another SIM.
However, in several earlier occasions despite having definite information, nothing such could be recovered from the jailed MP.
According to the police, though conflicting reports were coming to the district authorities that Sahabuddin was in constant touch with his followers outside the jail, there was no proof that he was having mobile phones inside the cell.
Now following the recovery of as many as four phones, the police is now trying to establish how they reached the incarcerated MP and interrogating a number of jail employees and officials as they suspect that a few policemen were involved in the matter.
Meanwhile, in a latest development today two constabales inside the jail were suspended by the authorities for dereliction of duty.
On May 8 Md Sahabuddin, facing more than 50 charges of murder, kidnapping and extortions for the past few years, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the designated court here on charge of kidnapping CPI-ML leader Chotelal Gupta.
