Boy's death: Doctor couple arrested

Madurai, May 16 (UNI) A doctor couple was arrested after a seven-year-old boy died following wrong treatment administered by them here today.

Police said Akash, son of farmer Gnanasambandam of Alanganallur, was admitted to the clinic run by the couple, Sivagurunadhan (47) and Vijayalakshmi (45), for tonsils treatment.

When the doctors attempted to perform the surgery last night, after administering anesthesia Akash started bleeding through his nose and ears.

He was rushed immediately to the Meenakshi Mission Hospital and then to the Rajaji Government Hospital. However, he died on the way.

The family members of Akash staged a demonstration in front of the GH, alleging that wrong treatment administered to him had led to his death.
