Badal puts recruitment of teachers on fast track

Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) Recruitment of teachers against vacant posts in all the schools was put on fast track with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today issuing instructions to complete recruitment process during summer vacations in the schools.

Reviewing the working of Education Department, the Punjab Chief Minister asked the Department to evolve transparent, merit based and quick system of recruitment of teachers. Mr. Badal also asked the Chief Secretary to evolve a system to give weightage to rural candidates applying to the post of teachers.

The meeting also reviewed the working of schools under Rural Development and Panchayat Department. The Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to comparatively assess the working of schools working under the education department and also those under Rural Development and Panchayat Department.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary would look into the problem of service conditions of teachers working in Rural Development and Panchayat Department. The Chief Minister said that he would review the working of schools under both systems after one year and choose the best system for the cause of improving education system in the State.
