AP Region collects Rs 10,198 crore IT

Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Region Income Tax Chief Commissioner D V Dharmik today said total IT collections from the region was Rs 10,198 crore for the financial year 2006-07.

Addressing the press here, Mr Dharmik said National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and N Prasad of Matrix were the top tax payers in the corporate and individual sections respectively. Mr Prasad paid Rs 26.40 crore as Income Tax.

The total collection of Corporate Tax was Rs 5,310 crore and non-corporate tax (Income Tax) Rs 4,621 Crore.

The remaining collections was from share and cash transaction taxes. Sierra Software and Infotech stood as top taxpayers in corporate company category.

The state occupied fifth position as against ninth last year in tax collections.

Mr Dharmik said as per the government notification, filing of IT returns should be done in new forms. There were eight different forms from ITR-1 to ITR-8.
