AP Govt to solve housing problems in urban areas: Minister
Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Alleging that the Left parties were using the 'land occupation' agitation, launched recently in the urban areas, as a platform to gain political mileage, Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir today said the Government would solve the housing problems of the poor after conducting a detailed survey.
Briefing newspersons after a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here, he said Dr Reddy had directed State Chief Secretary Harinarayana to conduct a detailed survey of Government lands lying vacant in the urban areas.
The Government would take up housing for the poor after the lands were identified, Mr Shabbir said.
Stating that the Government was not distributing housing lands to the poor in urban areas, he said the Government was constructing houses for the poor free of cost.
The Cabinet also ratified the allocation of land to a private Cement company, in which Chief Minister's son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was one of the Directors, in Kadapa district.
