Action plan to be prepared to check road accidents

Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the police, transport, Road and Building, Municipal Administration and other departments concerned to come out with a coordinated action plan to check road accidents in the State.

Dr Reddy, reviewing road safety and traffic problems in the city, expressed anguish and concern over the increasing road accidents in the State and wanted the Chief Secretary to come out with an action plan after meeting with all the departments concerned.

The Chief Minister told the meeting that there was absolutely no traffic discipline in the city. Some steps have to be taken immediately to tackle the acute traffic problems and congestion in the city. He wanted most stringent action against those guilty of overloading and druken driving. He would review these issues in detail on May 27 after the action plan was prepared.

Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary called for a meeting of all departments concerned on May 23.
