Accused escapes after drugging three cops
Thrissur, May 16 (UNI) Three policemen of the Armed Reserve Police were hospitalised here this morning after they fainted while returning from Coimbatore alongwith an accused, who managed to escape from their custody.
Accused Harikrishanan, a resident of Aluva near Kochi, also took away the mobile phone of one of the policemen. He is an accused in several cases, including murder and impersonation, police said.
The policemen, identified as Jayan, 30, Ajayan, 32, and Moosa, 30, had taken the accused from the Viyoor Central Prison here to Coimbatore on May 14 to produce him before the chief judicial magistrate there in connection with a case.
The policemen, who fainted in the train while coming back from Coimbatore, said that they had eaten in the court canteen before leaving for Coimbatore. It is suspected that Harikrishanan mixed some drug in their food, police added.
