25 killed bus-truck collision in UP
Badaun, May 16 (UNI) At least 25 people were killed and 30 were grievously injured when a speeding Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus collided head-on with a truck here today.
The incident occurred at Aligarh-Moradabad highway near Tata Chemical factory, where two trucks trying to overtake each other rammed into the bus coming from the opposite direction.
The packed UP Roadways bus was on its way to Rajghat.
Altogether 19 passengers died on the spot, while two died on their way to hospital.
The injured were rushed to hospital in a serious condition, where four succumbed to wounds this evening. The deceased, all passengers of the bus, included six women and five children.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Mayawati has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each to next-of-the-kin and Rs 50,000 for the critically injured.
