Raj: Time management machines marks attendance

Jaipur, May 15: The Rajasthan government is in the process of installing 'time management machines' in all government schools to mark the attendance of both teachers and students.

According to sources, the move under the campaign 'Education for All' (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) is aimed to reduce the absence and bunking of classes by both students and teachers. Besides inculcating discipline, the move will also deter students from coming in late and leaving early.

All students and teachers will have to put their thumb impressions on the machine installed at the gatesto get an entry into school.

The thumb impressions have already been scanned and kept aside to verify their presence in the schools.

The time management machines have already been installed on the entry gates in 15 schools of Jaipur district and five others in Duasa district on an experimental basis.

Shubra Singh, commissioner, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, said the installation of these computerised machines will improve the attendance in schools, make the students more disciplined and will also bring in transparency in the attendance process, routing out proxy attendance.

There are plans to to cover 460 schools in Jaipur district by the beginning of next session in July.
