RS adjourned twice over attack on media house in TN
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned twice today, first till 1400 hrs and then again for half an hour, with members of AIADMK and DMK clashing in the house over the attacks on a media house in Madurai in Tamil Nadu last week.
As soon as the House reassembled at 1400 hrs, the AIADMK members raised an uproar in the House demanding that they be allowed to take up the issue of attack on the office of newspaper 'Dinakaran' office by the supporters of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's son.
They reached the well of the House, shouting slogans demanding that the DMK government in the state be dismissed.
DMK leader and Road Transport Minister T R Baalu also indulged in verbal duel with AIADMK members in his effort to defend his party's government.
However, Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan pointed out that the Zero Hour was over and they could take up the matter only later. He urged them to allow the legislative business to proceed in the House and asked the ministers to present bills. He also advised Mr Baalu to ensure peace in the House.
When all his efforts to ensure peace in the House failed, Mr Khan adjourned the house for half an hour till 1442 hrs.
