Bangalore, May 15 (UNI) Thailand's low cost airline, Nok Air, today announced its entry into the Indian aviation scene with the introduction of the Bangalore-Bangkok service from June 1.

Nok Air Chief Executive Officer Patee Sarsin told newspersons here that the daily service would be operated by Boeing 737-400 with a capacity of 150 seats. The introductory return fare for 45 days would be Rs 9,999. It was proposed to introduce services from Chennai and Hyderabad also, he added.

He said the service would be of a different kind as compared to any other airline, adding, Nok Air will give the Indian flying public an opportunity to experience shopping from South East Asia's biggest and most luxurious shopping complex Slam Paragon to the vibrant Chatuchak weekend market and everywhere between, which is not only a shopper's paradise, and enriched with cultural sites and adventurous nightlife.

''I do not believe in providing a low cost carrier, but real experience of flying. Nok Air was the world's first 'Shoppers Airline,'' he claimed.

Mr Sarsin said Nok Air had a fleet of seven aircraft which would be increased to 11 by the year-end.

He said the company registered a Rs 500 million turnover in 2006 with 400 per cent profit. Over two million passengers had travelled with the airline since 2004 and this year it was targetted to carry three million passengers.
