MP Pappu Yadav produces new defence witness in Ajit Sarkar trial

Patna, May 15 (UNI) Incarcerated RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav today produced his defence witness before the local sessions court in connection with the murder case of CPI(M) leader Ajit Sarkar.

Former MLA Afak Alam was deposed before additional district and sessions judge of Patna B M Srivastava as the witness. Professor Ram Charitra Prasad was produced by Mr Yadav as another witness yesterday.

CPI(M) leader and MLA Ajit Sarkar was shot dead at Purnea by miscreants in 1996.

Mr Yadav and former MLA Rajan Tiwari are among the accused facing the trial.

By a Supreme Court order, Mr Yadav, currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail, was produced in today's hearing through video conferencing.
