Lupin gets US nod for Simvastatin tablets

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Pharma company Lupin Ltd today said it has received final approval from the USFDA for its anti-cholesterol Simvastatin tablets in different capacities.

Simvastatin tablets are AB-rated generic equivalent of Merck's Zocor tablets and will be marketed in dosages of 10mg, 20mg, 40mg and 80mg.

''The approval of our Simvastatin ANDA marks our entry in the finished dosages market for the widely prescribed class of lipid modifying drugs. The launch of Simvastatin will further expand our generic portfolio,'' said Lupin Managing Director Kamal Sharma said.

With this, the company now has 21 Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) approved by the US Food and Drug Administartion (USFDA).
