Guj Congress condemns girl's murder, holds govt responsible

Rajkot, May 15 (UNI) Congress workers and members of the Koli community organised a joint rally here today to condemn the murder of a teenaged girl and the rape of another on the outskirts of Junagadh yesterday.

The protestors, led by city Congress president Jaswantsinh Bhatti, raised slogans against the state government. They alleged that the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated and girls were unsafe under the present BJP regime.

While demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, The Congress threatened that if the miscreants were not nabbed within 24 hours, it would hold a ''dharna'' at Trikon Bagh on May 17.

The protestors also burnt Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in effigy at the district collectorate. They, later, submitted a memorandum to the collector.
