Arunachal: DVBDCS gears up to fight malaria menace
Itanagar, May 15: Armed with the recently procured modern fogging machines, the District Vector Borne Disease Control Society (DVBDCS) has geared up to fight malaria in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Despite the epidemic like situation in other parts of the state besides, neighbouring Asom, the DVBDCS, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner P S Lokhande and District Medical Officer Dr N Geyi, was successful last year in controlling the killer disease to a great extent except for the areas under Chowkham community health center.
In the last two years, Annual Parasite Index (API) in the district had dropped to 37 from the earlier 52, official sources said here today.
The DC had issued instructions to all the medical and administrative officers to monitor the DDT spray effectively and also take care of malaria cases on priority, sources added.
