CP seeks intervention of Guv for reopening closed tea gardens
Kolkata, May 15 (UNI) A ten-member delegation of Chhatra Parishad, the student's wing of the Congress, today sought Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi's intervention for reopening closed tea gardens in North Bengal.
Chhatra Parishad president Sourav Chakravarty told newsmen here that the Governor had assured the delegation to look into the matter.
Mr Gandhi recently visited the Bharna tea garden and subsequently asked the state government to furnish the steps taken to reopen the closed gardens.
The Parished demanded that either the gardens be revived or alternative packages provided to the affected workers within two to three months.
Referring to the Nandigram issue, the Governor told the delegation that the Nandigram issue was now sub-judice.
