Cong succeeded in ending Mulayam goondaraj in UP: Gehlot
Ajmer, May 15 (UNI) Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot said Congress did not aim to wrest power in Uttar Pradesh but was more intent on ending the 'goondaraj' of Mulayam government, in which it has succeeded.
While speaking to reporters here, Mr Gehlot further said Congress wants to end the caste and religion-ridden politics and is all for clean politics. Now Congress is looking ahead with 2009 Lok Sabha polls as its goal.
On Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Praveen Togadia's trishul diksha in Beawar yesterday, Mr Gehlot said this would definitely deepen the rift between Hindus and Muslims. He said the ban imposed on trishul diksha during Congress regime has been lifted by BJP, proving BJP's communal credentials.
Accusing Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of acting more like a BJP leader rather than a chief minister during her recent trips to various parts of the state including Ganganagar, Mr Gehlot said the police and administrative officials have been instructed to stop the public from meeting her.
