Centre has not constituted any committee for upgradation of NRC

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The government today told the Lok Sabha that it has not constituted any committee for upgdating the National Register of Citizens (NRC), 1951, However, the Asom Government has started the process to update the NRC, Minister of State for Home Affairs S Raghupathy said in a written reply.

The Central Government has released an amount of Rs 1.02 crore in the year 2005-06 to the state, and agreed to provide an additional Rs two crore for this purpose.
