Catholic priest and HM of primary school shot at in South Delhi
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Mystery surrounds the shooting at a Roman Catholic priest and Headmaster of a primary school by two unidentified men in Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi this afternoon following a scuffle allegedly over the snatching of a mobile phone.
Father George Phillip, who lives in the St Vincent Palloti Primary School campus in Sangam Vihar's 'L' Block, had a scuffle with two unidentified men when they allegedly tried to snatch his mobile phone at about 1230 hrs, a senior police official.
The 35-year-old headmaster was shot at when the robbers failed to overpower him and raised an alarm.
The bullet hit the priest on his upper left chest.
The accused, who entered from the school gate, later fled in the nearby bush area in the school vicinity.
Father Phillip was later rushed to the Batra Hospital where the bullet was removed. His condition is said to be stable.
He told the police that he did not know either of the two attackers, the official added.
Police officials, however, could not clarify why the robbers had to enter the school premises to snatch a mobile, and moreso, shoot the priest for a petty phone.
