Cash gold rebounds on dollar, Tokyo futures drop

SINGAPORE, May 15 (Reuters) Gold rebounded on Tuesday on a weak dollar after falling more than $2 in New York to track losses in copper, while Tokyo bullion futures lost ground on profit taking.

-- Spot gold rose to $669.20/669.70 an ounce from $668.20/669.70 late in the U.S. market on Monday.

-- Key April 2008 gold futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange fell 14 yen per gram to 2,618 yen, having risen the previous day on bargain hunting.

-- The euro was steady at $1.3543 .

-- Platinum rose to $1,318/1,323 an ounce from $1,317/1,321 in New York.

-- Refiner Johnson Matthey Plc said platinum might set a new record of $1,400 an ounce over the next six months, buoyed by interest in exchange-traded funds, limited stocks and fund buying. [ID:nL11656840] -- Palladium rose to $358/363 an ounce from $356/360.

-- Silver rose to $13.13/13.15 an ounce from $13.11/13.16 late in New York.
