Cabinet to clear Unorganised Workers' Bill on May 17
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) A Bill for the welfare of unorganised workers will be cleared by the Union Cabinet on Thursday and then introduced in this session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi announced today.
''We are committed from our heart (for the welfare of unorganised workers)...,'' Mr Dasmunsi said in the Lok Sabha, while replying to Mr Devendra Prasad Yadav (RJD) who had raised the issue during Zero Hour.
Mr Dasmunsi said the views of all the stakeholders had been taken into account and the Bill had been vetted by the group of ministers.
''It will be cleared in the next Cabinet meeting and introduced in this session,'' he said.
Earlier, Mr Yadav said the Common Minimum Programme was committed to ensuring the welfare of workers, especially unorganised ones who constituted 93 per cent of the workforce.
He said the Labour Minister had also announced during his reply on the demands for grants for his Ministry that the Bill will be introduced in this session.
''This is the last week of the current session. What is the Government doing about it?'' he asked.
