Body of Nitish Kumar's wife brought to Patna for cremation

Patna, May 15 (UNI) The body of Manju Kumari Sinha, wife of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was brought here today after her death in New Delhi last night.

Ms Sinha(55), who had been suffering from acute pneumonia, breathed her last at around 1930 hours at Max Hospital where she was undergoing treatment since May one.

Mr Kumar and his son Nishant had been camping at the hospital since then.

Her body was brought here in a coffin by an Indian flight around 0945 hours. It was accompanied by the chief minister, his son and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav.

Mr Kumar's cabinet colleagues and senior government officials besides, a large number of people gathered at the airport to receive the body and pay their respect.

The body was taken in a flower bedecked van to the chief minister's official residence at one Anne Marg where it would be kept till 1300 hours before being taken to the crematorium for the last rites.

People gathered on both sides of the roads on way to Mr Kumar's residence to pay their last respect to Ms Sinha. Many of them were seen weeping.

A graduate of Patna Engineering college, Ms Sinha was a senior teacher of the Kamala Nehru Government Girl's College here.

RJD supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife former chief minister Rabri Devi expressed grief at her death and sent condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

Lok Janshakti Party(LJP) chief and Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan also condoled Ms Sinha's death.

Leaders and legislators of all parties, including the Congress, BJP and LJP besides, a large number of people thronged the chief minister's official residence since morning to pay last respect to the departed soul.
