YMA sorry for ''accidental'' loss of life
Aizawl, May 14 (UNI) Mounting public criticism against the Young Mizo Association's (YMA) Supply Reduction Service (SRS)'s excesses has compelled the YMA to issue a public apology.
Agitation was further fuelled by the death of an alleged drug dealer C Lalbiakliana while in SRS office last week.
A meeting of YMA's central executive committee yesterday expressed profound regret over the ''accidental loss of life'' in its Ruihhlo Do (war on drugs and liquor) campaign.
'' We apologise to the people of Mizoram and the victim's family,'' a YMA representative said at the meeting.
The YMA has decided to hold a consultation meeting on May 17 for all concerned persons to review the controversial Ruihhlo Do and take advice as necessary.
Meanwhile, the proposed ''peaceful demonstration'' in protest of violation of laws by the SRS slated for today was foiled by the Aizawl district administration's imposition of CrPC 144.
