Revival of LLM course help law PGs land plum jobs

Bangalore, May 14 (UNI) The revival of LLM, the post graduate degree in law, by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) here, has helped post graduates in Law match their counterparts in Indian Institutes of Management by landing plum jobs offering fat pay cheques.

Top law and other firms came calling to hire the first batch students of post graduate legal studies in NLSIU recently and all of them were offered jobs. The firms included HDFC, IDBI, National Stock Exchange, a Bloomberg initiative Hriday-Shann and law firms like Gagrat and Co of Mumbai. This was apart from SEBI which hired five post graduates and country's largest corporate in infrastructure development, Larsen and Toubro.

Mr Kamakya Srivatsava, coordinator of NLSUI Recruitment On-campus Committee, said that the demand for post graduates in law studies was ensured due to Securities, Financial market regulation and Human Rights law being a core subject in the course.

In a release here today, Mr Srivatsava said that "the average remuneration stood at Rs five lakhs per annum, setting a new benchmark for the hitherto dismal remuneration offered to post-graduates in law. Besides corporate world the post graduate students had also chose Academia like NALSAR in Hyderabad and NLU of Jodhpur." UNI
