India, Fiji to cooperate in tourism promotion

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) India and Fiji today decided to promote tourism in each other's country as the latter invited Indian investors in hotel and hospital sector.

Fiji Finance Minister Mahendra Choudhary today called on Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and discussed ways to boost tourism and culture ties between the two countries.

During their 30-minute-long meeting, the visiting Minister said there was a an increase in tourist traffic from India to Fiji and to boost it further he held a fruitful meeting with Indian tour operators.

He was hopeful that Indian tour operators would promote tourism in Fiji through package tours.

Mr Choudhary said air connectivity between the two countries was an area where improvement was required.

He said his Government was keen to invite Indian investors in hotel and hospitals sectors and currently negotiating with some big names in India in these two sectors.

Ms Soni stressed the need to promote tourism between the two countries through package tours.

Meanwhile, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) organised a reception in honour of the visiting dignitary.

"Fiji is truly the hub of the south pacific region and a perfect holiday destination for Indians," IATO President Subash Goyal said.
