Haryana gives 1-year extension to pvt schools

Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) The Haryana government today gave an extention of one year to those private schools which are yet to fulfil the norms prescribed for their recognition by the Haryana Education Department.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today, to discuss the issue of granting recognition to private schools.

It was decided that such private schools would be granted temporary affiliation provisionally with the Haryana Board of School Education for the academic session 2007-08 provided they would submit an affidavit with an undertaking that they would fulfil the prescribed norms for recognition before December 31, 2007.

Also, they would not run the school for the next academic session starting from April 1, 2008 without fulfilling the norms.

The decision to give an extension of a full academic session would provide another opportunity to private schools to fulfil the prescribed norms and apply for recognition.

Those present in the meeting included Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana, Chief Secretary Prem Prashant, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M L Tayal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Education R S Gujral and other senior officers of the Education Department.
