CPI(M) slams BJP for confusing human trafficking issue
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Ahead of an All Party Meet, convened by the Lok Sabha Speaker to examine the human trafficking issue, the CPI(M) today came down heavily on the BJP for "confusing" the issue by involving the other "tainted MPs" as well.
"It is unfortunate that the BJP which claims to be a principled and cadre based party, should confuse the issue in this manner," CPI(M) senior leader Mohammad Salim told newspersons here.
Mr Salim said an MP, who enjoys diplomatic immunity and other privileges, should not indulge in "criminal activity" that brought disrepute and lowered the dignity of Parliament.
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has called an all party meeting here tomorrow to discuss the human trafficking issue involving a BJP MP. The meeting comes close on the heels of re-issue of notices by the Delhi police to four MPs whose names were mentioned in the case. Suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara is already in jail.
The four MPs Ramswarup Koli(BJP), Mohammad Tahir Khan, Ashok Kumar Rawat and Mitrasen R Yadav(all BSP) have been asked to appear before the police by tommorow.
Mr Salim said the CBI was already inquiring into the''Cash for questions'' case.
On the "full proof mechanism", he said it might be difficult as it existed in an ideal society only.
On initiation of criminal proceedings against the MPs involving in human trafficking case, the Left leader said, "Let law take its own course." He also came down heavily on the BJP for repeatedly disrupting Parliament proceedings on flimsy grounds and said it was unfortunate that the urgent public issues- the Women's Reservation Bill, Unorganised Workers Bill and others had yet to be listed and introduced in the House.
