Congress condemns desecration of the statue of Beant

Chandigarh, May 14 (UNI) President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Shamsher Singh Dullo today strongly condemned the action of desecrating the statue of former Chief Minister Late Beant Singh at Jalandhar by Simarnjit Singh Mann and his henchmen.

In a statement here Mr Dullo said, ''The nation can not forget the supreme sacrifice of Late S. Beant Singh who restored peace and tranquility in the state after 15 years of turmoil''.

He warned the ''miscreants'' of by Mann-led Akali Dal that they will not be allowed to disrupt the hard-earned peace of the State.

Mr Dullo also appealed to the District Administration to make proper security arrangements for the memorials of the martyrs and take stern action against the miscreants.
