Both Houses of Parliament Adjourned for Day on Babli Dam Issue
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) Proceedings in both houses of Parliament were today stalled following uproar over the Babli Dam issue leading to their adjournments for the day.
After both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments in the pre-lunch sitting over the issue, the respective Presiding officers decided to call it a day within minutes after the lunch break.
Repeated uproars had derailed proceedings in both the Houses during the last few days on various issues including the Gujarat fake encounters and the Nandigram firings.
It was the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members' turn today to raise the issue of the Babli dam -- being constructed by Maharashtra over the Godavari river. The dam, the TDP members contended, would adversely affect the flow of water to Andhra Pradesh.
