Apex Court To Consider Ways To Check College Ragging
New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) An expert report to check ragging and suicide in educational institutions has been submitted to the Supreme Court of India for consideration, Parliament was told today.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandareswari said the Court had constituted a Committee to suggest steps to check incidents of ragging and suicide in educational institutions.
The Committee headed by former director of the Central Bureau of Investigation R K Raghavan has since submitted its report to the Supreme Court for consideration, the Minister said.
She said the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 apply to all offences punishable under the Code whether committed by way of ragging or otherwise.
