4 militants among 5 killed, Lashker ultra arrested in J

Srinagar, May 14 (UNI) Four militants were among five people killed, while security forces arrested an ultra of Pakistan -based Lashker- e-Toiba (LeT) in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, an official spokesman said.

A former militant was killed today by unidentified persons in north Kashmir, official sources said.

They said a group of unidentified persons entered the house of one Ghulam Ahmad Mir alias Moulvi at Kralpora in the frontier district of Kupwara and strangled him.

Moulvi was heading a Darul-Aloom where he was teaching the local childrens.

A police spokesman said security forces killed a militant in an encounter at Sopore, in Baramulla district today. The encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants.

He said security forces gunned down a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) Tariq Ahmad Wani in an encounter at Dungru Nallah in Doda district of Jammu region today. One AK rifle, one magzine and 30 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain militant.

Two more militants were also killed by the security forces in a fierce encounter at Lancha Gool. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunitions were recovered from the site of encounter.

A LeT militant was today arrested by police and security forces in a joint operation at Srigufwara in Anantnag district along with one hand grenade.
