Gurgaon, May 13 (UNI) Farmers from villages in and around Gurgaon today took to streets and blocked traffic on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway 8 here in protest against the acquisition of their land on prices below market rates by the Government for a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Traffic on the busy highway was blocked for hours as the farmers protested in large numbers.

Reliance is setting up a SEZ spread over 10,000 hectares in Haryana and is was working on a 8,000-hectare zone in Gurgaon, while Omaxe intended to set up a 6,000-hectare enclave also in Haryana.
