Villagers block traffic after torching truck carrying cows

Hisar, May 12 (UNI) The villagers of Kanwari village in this district torched a truck transporting cows, after rescuing the cattle, police sorces said here today.

The villagers on information that cows were being carried for slaughter house in a truck, got together and stopped the truck.

While the persons travelling on the truck escaped, people released the cows but found two cows dead inside the truck.

The angry villagers then set the truck afire and blocked the traffic on Hisar-Tosham road for about two hours.

It was only after the SDM assured them that the guilty would be nabbed and punished in accordance with the law, that the villagers allowed the traffic to move.
