Govt to build New Secretariat Complex: Karunanidhi
Chennai, May 12: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced that the state government would build a 'New Secretariat Complex' in memory of his golden jubilee celebrations in the state legislature.
Replying to the felicitations offered by the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, he said the foundation stone for the new complex would be laid soon.
Mr Karunanidhi said construction of the complex would be completed during the tenure of the present DMK regime itself. A suitable place which would be accepted to all the legislators would be selected, he said.
The government would not demolish any educational institutions or create problems for universities while selecting a venue, he said while having a dig at the previous AIADMK regime, which sought to demolish the 'Queen Mary's college to build a new complex.
Mr Karunanidhi also indirectly referred to the previous AIADMK government's move to build a secretariat building at the Anna University complex.
