JK IMPA to sign MoU with 4 institutions in India

Srinagar, May 12: Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA) has decided to sign Memorandum of nderstanding (MoU) with four reputed institutions of the country for capacity building through exchange of faculty, research and documentation and cross fertilisation of ideas.

The institutions include All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG), Mumbai, Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Pune, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi , and Human Settlement Management Institute (HSMI), New Delhi.

An official spokesman said approval to the signing of MoUs was accorded by the IMPA Executive Council Sub-Committee here during its 5th meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary (Chairman, IMPA Executive Council Sub-Committee), C Phunsog.

The tie up with these institutions would help IMPA share their research and faculty expertise in different areas and draw benefits the latest and emerging trends practiced by these institutions in the respective fields.

The arrangement would broaden the knowledge base of the Institute leading to capacity building and improvement in human resource of various government departments.

Mr Phunsog welcomed the idea of the IMPA working in collaboration with the reputed institutions of the country.

He appreciated the initiative and desired that Action Plan for each MoU be drawn up for implementation.

The Committee expressed satisfaction over the MoUs and hoped these would pave way for the Institute becoming a knowledge hub.

Secretary, Finance opined that the MoUs should fit in with the overall training policy of the state government which has earmarked Rs one crore as training budget for General Administration Department.

He suggested sending 100 officials to AIILSG, Mumbai and 20-25 each to YASHADA, SPA and HSMI.
