Heat wave in parts of AP, low pressure persists

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) Heat wave conditions prevailed over south coastal Andhra Pradesh today, even as the low pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood persisted.

The system was likely to become well marked and might concentrate into a depression by tomorrow, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

Isolated rain or thundershowers were likely to occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hours. Mainly dry weather was likely over the rest of the State.

Heat wave conditions over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh were likely to continue for the next 48 hours.

True to the epithet 'agnigundam', Ramagundam had a very high 44.4 deg c, followed by Nizamabad 44.3 deg c, Nalgonda 44.2 deg c, Kurnool 44 deg c, Vijayawada and Kavali 43.2 deg c.

Hyderabad had a maximum temperature of 42.5 deg c. The State Capital would experience partly cloudy sky. There was a chance of thunder development during evening. The maximum temperature would hover around 42 deg c.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm were Itchapuram 3, Tuni, Bobbili, Cheepurupalli, Veeraghattam, Palasa 2 each, Narsapur, Visakhapatnam, Visakhapatnam AP, Gajapathinagaram, Salur, Vizianagaram, Ranasthalam, Pathapatnam, Palakonda, Avanigadda and Repalle one each.
