Haryana earmarks Rs 21 cr for Viwah Shagun Yojna
Chandigarh, May 12 (UNI) The Haryana government has made a provision of about Rs 21 crore under the "Indira Gandhi Priyadarshani Viwah Shagun Yojna" to benefit 8176 beneficiaries during the current financial year.
A spokesman for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department said that under the scheme a grant of Rs 15,000 was being given to the persons belonging to Scheduled Castes and Denotified Tribes living below the poverty line (BPL) on the occasion of the marriage of their daughter.
Similarly, a sum of Rs 5100 was given to other sections of the society living below the poverty line under the scheme.
He said the grant was made available for the marriage of two daughters in a family. Any widow or divorced woman who wants to re-marry was also eligible to get benefit under this scheme.
