Gujarat CID team questions AP police officials
Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) The Gujarat CB-CID team, led by CID Inspector General Geeta Johri, today questioned certain police officials in connection with the fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin and the alleged killing of his wife Kausar Bi.
Sources said Ms Johri, who came to the city on May 9 to investigate the alleged involvement of Andhra Pradesh police officials in the encounter, had interrogated some police officials who were on duty in the City Crime and Task Force branches when the couple was picked up by the Gujarat police from the city in 2005.
Central Police Line (CPL) Commandant Sudhir Babu, who was the Task Force DCP in 2005, was one among the police officials interrogated by the Gujarat police, the sources added.
However, neither the CID team nor the city police officially revealed the names of the police officials.
The CID team also visited the Sangeeta Travel agency office, from where the couple booked their tickets and gathered documents pertaining to their journey.
The travel agency officials were being grilled by the team, sources said.
Yesterday, Ms Johri questioned Rajiv Trivedi, city Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) and inquired about the role of Andhra Pradesh Police officials in the incident.
Trivedi was believed to have close links with the IPS officers of Gujarat cadre involved in the case and there were allegations that the Gujarat police sought his help in the encounter.
She also recorded the statement of Radhakrishnayya, DIG of the CRPF, believed to be close to D G Vanzara, the DIG of Gujarat cadre, who had been arrested along with two other IPS officers in connection with the case.
