Chandigarh, May 11 (UNI) For computerizing the entire process of allotment of dwelling units under Slum Rehabilitation Project, Chandigarh Administrator's Adviser Lalit Sharma today launched a unique software, 'SRISHTI' (Slum Rehabilitation for Improvement, Security and Hygiene of the Inhabitants).

Developed by the Chandigarh Housing Board, its application was successfully tested during the shifting of about 700 families from Madrasi colony, sector 26, to small flats at Sector 56.

The sofware system has unique features which greatly facilitate the entire process of allotment and also help to filter any ineligible applicant.

Mr Sharma also released a brochure of the Slum Rehabilitation Project under the Chandigarh Small Flats Scheme, 2006 at the Government Girls High School, Sector 25, today.

As per the information provided in the brochure, at present, as many as 23, 841 number of slum families spread over 18 different colonies in the city have been identified.

Throwing light on the unique features of the Slum Rehabilitation Project under the Small Flats Scheme, 2006, the Adviser said that for checking resale, the dwelling units would not be allotted on ownership basis but on license fee basis.

This would help in checking the practice of selling of the site or allotted dwelling unit in the market and then going back to the slums.

For ensuring that only genuine allottees under the scheme are provided property rights, the option of ownership on payment of balance amount would be given to the beneficiary after a period of twenty years.

Development of dwelling units is planned in such a way that there are no incidental spaces or unauthorized occupation of government land. Large chunks of open areas and parks along with basic infrastructure facilities of health care, education, shopping etc.

are also provided under the project. Individual water, electricity and sewer connection would also be provided in each dwelling unit.

Under the scheme, a Smart Card would be provided to each eligible family carrying all details of the family along with its photograph.
