Santosh Yadav feels motivated to climb Everest again
Chandigarh, May 11 (UNI) Santosh Yadav, the first woman in the world to scale the Mount Everest twice, says she feels motivated to achieve the feat for the third time.
''I feel motivated once again. I climbed the peak twice with passion. And passion never dies,'' said Padma Shri Yadav when asked whether she would like to try it again.
The mountaineer was talking to reporters here after she watched the Discovery Channel's preview of its forthcoming television series 'Everest: Beyond the Limit.' The series will present for the first time ever an Everest summit expedition from start to finish and the intense challenges it places on human body and mind.
Ms Yadav said she had to face stiff opposition of her parents when she decided to become a mountaineer. ''I just took my pocket money collected over time and left home for muntaineering institute,'' said the mountaineer who comes from Joniawas village of Rewari district of Haryana. She later scaled the Mount Everest in 1992 and 1993.
Asked what inspired her to become a mountaineer, she said since her childhood she was fascinated by mountains and used to make paintings of snow-clad peaks, using her own imagination.
