Punjabi singer held with 4.5 kg of opium
Jalandhar, May 11 (UNI) Police have arrested a Punjabi singer and recovered 4.5 kg of opium from his possession here late last night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajeshwar Singh told UNI, Punjabi singer Gurmeet Singh Naagar, who was arrested with 4.5 kg of opium, had brought 15 kg of opium from Madhya Pradesh and had already sold 10 kg in the market. The remaining was recovered from his accomplice Jagdeep Singh Sonu.
The DSP informed that Gurmeet took to smuggling after his first Punjabi songs album incurred losses and he needed money to release another CD.
Both the accused were arrested under Section 18 of the NDPS Act and futher investigations were on, the DSP said.
