Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan police join hands against crime

Bathinda, May 11 (UNI) The first coordination-cum-information sharing meeting of the police officials of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab today decided to strengthen nakas, improve information sharing and communication network and organise joint operations to tackle the inter-state criminal activity, specially the drug menace.

The meeting to chalkout the joint inter-state police action plan was convened here by Dr Jitendera Jain, DIG Faridkot Range, in which Haryana police officials Vikas Arora, (SP Sirsa), S Saurabh Singh (SP Fatehabad) and Rajasthan's police officials Binita Thakur, (SP Sri Ganganagar), R Suhasa (SP Hanumangarh) and many other Punjab police officers were present.

Vital information on the activities of Inter-state smugglers was exchanged and it was decided that Nakas on inter-state border shall be strengthened and be made more meaningful.

The system of communication shall be improved and a coordination cell shall be set up in the office of DIG Faridkot Range to co-ordinate the efforts on anti-smuggling front. Nodal officers have been appointed by SSPs of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab who will coordinate and share information on regular basis.

On-line information will be provided wherever it will be felt necessary. Joint raids will also be conducted whenever deemed necessary by intelligence inputs.

The SSPs agreed to provide all necessary support in case the police from neighbouring states wanted to nab culprits from their respective jurisdictions.

Vital information on proclaimed offenders, bail jumpers, escapees, Satta operators, inter-state dacoits, robbers, vehicle lifters and members of 'kala kachha' tribal gang was exchanged and discussed.

The coordination-cum-information sharing meeting will be a regular bi-monthly feature.
