Thiruvananthapuram, May 11 (UNI) A committee appointed by the Kerala government to look into the death of new born babies due to infection at the state-run Sree Avittam Tirunal (SAT) Hospital has found that there was no increase in death rate in the recent past.

The committee, in its report, pointed out that the increase in the number of deaths was due to high number of admissions during April. The death rate of new born babies during the first four months from 2004 to 2007 was 3.34, 1.38, 2.65 and 2.27 respectively.
