Nagpur firm bags contract for cargo hub captive power plant
Nagpur, May 11 (UNI) A Nagpur-based firm has bagged the contract for setting up a 100 MW captive power plant for the proposed Multi modal International Air Passenger and Cargo Hub project, near here.
The bids for the captive power plant were opened in Mumbai yesterday and the offer from Abhijeet Infrastructure Limited (AIL) of Nagpur for supplying power at the rate of Rs 3 per unit was accepted as it was the lowest, according to an official press release here.
AIL would set up the coal-based power plant of 2 units of 50 MW each on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis, it said. AIL would also erect the transmission and distribution network in the MIHAN area through public-private participation, the release said.
Maharashtra Airports Development Company (MADC), which is implementing the MIHAN project, had invited bids for the captive power plant, and 40 parties, including K S K Energy of Hyderabad, Shriram EPC of Chennai and Compton Greaves of Mumbai, had participated in the bidding process, the release added.
The project to erect the captive power plant, and the transmission and distribution network would be executed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to be formed for the venture, a spokesman for AIL said.
AIL, a part of Nagpur's Abhijeet Group, has interests in power, infrastructure, roads, steel and mining. It is already erecting a 540 MW power plant in Jharkhand besides other in Maharashtra and West Bengal.
