MCD to honour participants of Indian Freedom fighters smriti yatra

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) To commemmorate the 150th anniversary of the first war of India's Independence, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will tomorrow accord a civic reception to participants of 'Yatra Dal' comprising ex servicemen.

The participants, who started their journey from Moirang at Imphal in Manipur on April 14 (where the Azad Hind Fauj unfulrled the Indian tricolour for the first time on April 14, 1944), are reaching Delhi tomorrow after travelling on foot via Guwahati, Barrackpore, Jagdishpur, Balia, Lucknow, Jhansi, Mainpuri and Meerut.

Talking to mediapersons here, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra said the civic reception was being given to the freedom fighters by the MCD as its gratitude to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country.
