New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) Taking serious note of the bad condition of the roads in the capital, the Delhi High Court today directed the Delhi Government authorities to repair them within five months.

A division bench of Chief Justice M K Sarma and Justice R S Sodhi directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD), New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) to file a status report by September 30, 2007 after repairing all the roads in the capital city.

''Many of these roads require repair immediately. Conditions of the roads are vary bad. File a status report after repairing them,'' said the bench while reacting to the report submitted by the court commissioner Pushkar Sood during the hearing of a public suit filed by Hemnalini Mehra for traffic regulation in the capital.

Mr Sood, during the hearing of the case, submitted that many of the roads in the captial were in a bad shape due to which people were facing difficulties.

The Court directed the central government to evolve a mechanism to computerise and connect the transport authorities of all the states in the country to check the fraudulent issuance of driving licences.

''Computerise and centralise the licencing authorities in the country, so that the erring drivers would not get another licence from another state after committing accidents in the capital,'' the bench said.

The Union Surface Transport Department and Delhi Transport Authority had been directed to place the names and details of the people, whose licence had been cancelled by the authorities for committing accidents, crimes and other offences.
