HC directs govt to allot land to illegal Gurudwara
New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the government to relocate the unauthorised Gurudwara at Malcha Marg in Chanakyapuri by alloting a piece of land in the locality.
A division bench of Chief Justice M K Sharma and Justice R S Sodhi said, ''Find alternate site for the Gurudwara and allot it for its relocation.'' Adjourning the matter till July 20, the court asked the New Delhi Municipal Council(NDMC) and the Land and Development Office, the land owning agencies, to identify a land near the existing spot in Malcha Marg.
Counsel Anjana Gusai appearing for the NDMC said a piece of land was offered to the gurudwara management committee earlier, but it did not accept the offer. The land meant for the Gurudwara had been allotted for a community centre, she said.
A gurudwara had come up on the public land since several decades and the municipal authorities did not initiate any action against the managing committee, Sood said.
