Glowing tributes paid to Asaf Ali on 118th birth anniversary

New Delhi, May 11 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to great freedom fighter Aruna Asaf Ali on the occasion of his 118th birth anniversary today.

On this occasion, Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra, along with senior officers of the MCD, garlanded the statue of the late leader at Asaf Ali road.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor described Mr Asaf Ali as a fearless, free and frank social worker.

''Mr Asaf Ali wanted to see Delhi as a progressive and clean city. He was widely respected for his knowledge about Delhi and its multifarious problems and their solutions,'' Ms Mehra said.

''The best tribute we can pay to Mr Asaf Ali is that we serve Delhiites wholeheartedly the way he did,''she said.
