CRPF aims to be largest force in Asia, recruits Kashmiris

Srinagar, May 11 (UNI) With an aim to be the largest paramilitary force in Asia, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is raising new battalions in the country.

Ten new battalions were being raised in the country for which recruitment drive was going on, a CRPF spokesman said adding each and every state would get its due share from the recruitment quota in the force.

CRPF has the pride to become the largest paramilitary force of Asia in the near future, he said.

About the recent controversy over the recruitment of only Kashmiri youths in the CRPF, he said recruitment from the Jammu had already been done in March. However, recruitment could not be conducted in the Kashmir valley because of adverse weather conditions.

''We have recruited full quota from Jammu and now it is the quota for the Kashmir valley which is being filled,'' he said.

The BJP had threatened to launch an agitation if Jammu youth were not allowed to apply in the CRPF.

The pokesman said since Jammu quota was already filled, youth from the Kashmir valley only could can apply for the quota reserved for them.
